Music City is an interconnected community of talented individuals who care deeply about their neighbors and the next generation of Nashville. Nowhere is that better on display than the annual Salama Songwriters’ Night, which brings together Salama long-time supporters, new friends and music fans to get behind one of the city’s most impactful and important youth programs.

Covenant Capital Group Managing Partner Govan White and his wife Barby are proud supporters of both Salama and its Songwriters’ Night. Salama provides year-round, 5-day a week extended learning programs that develops youth into leaders with strong values. It serves grades K-12, providing instruction in academics, the performing arts and spiritual development.

Annually the Songwriters’ Night features some of Nashville’s greatest talents. Which is largely why it attracts nearly 300 guests a year. This year will be no different, as the event features an award-winning songwriter with multiple #1 hit writer Rivers Rutherford. He’s responsible for “When I Get Where I’m Going” by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton and has written hits for Blake Shelton, Gretchen Wilson, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Montgomery Gentry, and many others.

Rivers will be joined by Jesse Lee, who has written two #1 hits in the last two years: “Peter Pan” (Kelsea Ballerini), and “Like I Loved You” (Brett Young). Her hits also include “That Could Still Be Us” (Keith Urban), and songs recorded by Lauren Alaina, Bomshel, and Kristy Lee Cook. In addition to Rivers and Lee, the evening always holds unexpected special guests.

Salama Songwriters’ Night is an important celebration of Nashville’s talent and ability to come together. it is also an impactful fundraising event for Salama that helps fuel its imperative work with Nashville’s next generation.
